Welcome to the Glendi 2009 Website!

Following a series of in-depth meetings in late 2008, Glendi Greek Festival Inc and the Glendi Organising Committee, organisers of the Glendi Greek Festival came to the heartrending decision that it was no longer sustainable or viable to hold Glendi Greek Festival in the month of March.

With the ever-increasing amount of festivals and events such as Fringe, Clipsal, WOMADelaide, Adelaide Cup etc continuing to take centre stage in what is now known as Mad March, Adelaide’s original flagship cultural event GLENDI Greek Festival has had to undertake a major change. It is the vision of the committee that with a new venue and new date we will see GLENDI move from strength to strength and welcome GLENDI to a new era.

Originally held in March to commemorate Greece’s Independence Day the change is needed to ensure that justice would be done to the national and international reputation that the Glendi Greek Festival had built up over the previous 30 years.
