The Glendi Festival is the Lions Club’s major project where it raises money for distribution to many different worthy charities. It has grown to become the premier festival of its type in the Southern Hemisphere and attracts up to 40,000 visitors.

Established in 1978 as a co-operative enterprise between the Lions Club of Adelaide Hellenic and West Torrens Football Club from very humble beginnings a dedicated group of volunteers assembled to introduce the Hellenic Community to the general public to share in their lifestyle, music, dances, food, wines and the celebrations of their heritage and culture. As with all community events, a dedicated and experienced committee is vital, and at Glendi we have this. Totally run by volunteers Glendi brings together many of South Australia’s Hellenic organisations to help celebrate Greek culture and heritage with contemporary Australian experiences.

Sponsorship is a requirement to ensure success of the festival. As Glendi is a non-profit organisation, all monies raised are used to pay for capital works, insurance, promotion, entertainment, culture, administration, security and many other requirements.
